Many candidates for faculty in educational leadership have K-12 practitioner experience or academic backgrounds; rarely do they possess both, impeding their success in preparing prospective school administrators. The panelists (3 deans, 1 faculty) will describe the challenge of identifying, hiring and retaining new faculty members in educational leadership. Beginning with vignettes and experiences dealing with the problem, the panelists will invite audience participation on the concerns, challenges and constraints in finding the next generation of faculty.
